"He who breaks a resolution is a weakling.
He who makes one is a fool."
So very true! And yet, I have had success with resolutions in the past. One year I decided I was going to start volunteering at a local hospice. I signed up, took the class, and gave them a full year of my time. The experience was one I'll never forget. Then there was the year I decided I was finally going to sit down and write a book. I did, and I went on to publish that nonfiction masterpiece for all to see. Every now and then someone even buys a copy. LOL.
So why am I hesitant about this year? I think it's because of my age. The older I get, the more realistic I am about my own capabilities. I would love to be that girl who gets in shape and competes in triathlons. But the wise woman inside knows there ain't no way in hell that's ever going to happen. (We're talking hours and hours of training here, and not the fun kind either).
Maybe that's the key. Perhaps we should all choose a resolution that's truly doable. Oh, and also one fun and worthy of our time. I turned to the internet for some inspiration, but all I found were funny suggestions. Here's a sampling:
Always see my cup half full...with vodka, gin, or wine.
Exercise (my right to eat) more (tacos).
Always wear sexy underwear...just in case.
Every time you include a smiley face or LOL in a text, actually laugh at loud.
Okay, I need to get serious here.
Drumroll please...My resolution for 2020 will be to enjoy life and the people in it as much as possible. It's nice and vague, doable, and best of all fits in with my getting older status. Life is short, man. Enjoy it while you can.
I would love to hear from you. Did you make a resolution? Why or why not? If you did make one, care to share it with us?
Wishing you all a wonderful, healthy, and fun 2020!!
