This is the part writers usually hate. We like to create plots and interesting characters, but we're not as keen on promoting. To me it feels like I'm standing in front of a person's face screaming, "BUY MY BOOK!" I even picture waving the paperback at them or thumping it with my hand.
But marketing doesn't have to be painful. Once you have your social media sites set up, it's a matter of planning out your posts and then following through. Plus, if you're a submissive, there's usually a Dom behind the scenes pushing the process along and making sure you get your work done. LOL.
It also helps to have friends. I am quickly learning writers are the friendliest and most helpful bunch of professionals to work with. They will bend over backwards to help you get set up, make suggestions, and gently tell you when you're off track. I am fortunate to belong to a group of Black Velvet Seduction authors that help each other out. Callie Carmen, if you're reading this, you are a rockstar!
So, if you're a writer with an upcoming release date, my advice to you is simple. Put on your big girl panties, suck it up, and get to work. And heh, while you're at it, cruise on over to Amazon and pre-order my new book. Only 99 cents until May 30th. Happy reading!!
