"You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep, because reality is finally better than your dreams."
Who knew Dr. Seuss was such a romantic?
I think we've all been there at some point in our lives. It's that heart-pounding, mind-racing, exciting moment when you've fallen in love and can't stop thinking about the other person. It can certainly lead to some sleepless nights. But hopefully they are well spent with your lover between the sheets. LOL.
From a writer's perspective, this is a mine of wonderful emotions that can be pulled out and played with to make a story jump. In Paging Dr. Turov, I give Abby a restless night of worrying about her first date with the good doctor. She is attracted to him, but he also makes her uncomfortable, and she's not sure why.
If you're currently in the throes of a new romance, I urge you to revel in this experience. If you've been with your mate for a long time, try to think back to when it was hot and frantic. Maybe you can rekindle some of that magic in a creative way!
