I was looking for a sweet romance, and this book fit the bill nicely. It opened with Phae, a middle-aged widow, heading to Mallorca to follow her dreams. I liked her character immediately. That feeling grew as I read about her emotionally abusive husband. She's lucky that dickwad kicked the bucket!
In Mallorca Phae meets hottie, Finn, and the two have great chemistry together. Their meet-cute was adorable, but I don't want to spoil it for you. (Hint. The cover kindof gives it away).
The plot is a twist on the classic second-chance theme, and I found myself rooting for this couple. They had a lot to overcome. Phae had to work through her trust issues and find autonomy. Finn had to get over his grief and guilt. They both had to learn to open their hearts again, and they both had issues with their children.
There were some interesting side stores in the novel that revolved around the children. I think what impressed me the most about this author was her ability to describe and pull out the emotions of all these different characters. I could feel their anger, compassion, sadness, joy, love, and grief while reading the book. I even shed a few tears. FYI - that's high praise from me.
Overall, this was a well-written and engaging story. You can find it at:
