Renaud created two very likable characters in Rob and Charlie. You can't help but pull for them as they fall in love and struggle with family issues. As usual, there are some great visuals and references to the sea. I particularly liked Renaud's mention of refloating dolphins. Who knew? She also had some great character descriptors. One particularly noteworthy one was when she described Charlie as "a little incendiary device." And holy Moses, who knew mermans were so well endowed? Lol.
This is a fast-paced and exciting read that effortlessly weaves in the magical quality of music. It is short and sweet, but toward the end it takes a dramatic turn you won't see coming. Ultimately it is a book about love and resolving family hurts. I highly recommend it. You will find yourself looking for a glimpse of a merman in the water on your next beach trip.
